The Rising Country

At lunchtime, I enjoyed the great songs of The Field Mice
Although I had bought sushi. Yes, the "fishes and rice"
But is there any paradox? Am I doing a kind of terrible vice?
I just do what I want to do. I guess it just must be nice

In this country, its culture seems like a salad. Wonderful taste
Like a kind of great pop star. His or her charm can't be erased
Once I hated this hybrid. Like I hate the man with uncool black-faced
And also I had believe that Japanese life is a fatal, enormous waste

But now, I can enjoy various great tunes in Japanese
They must have their rich tastes like a gorgeous, famous cheese
A great country with sea, mountains, and also high and beautiful trees

Even though there is not any famous poet in the world like Shakespeare
I believe every classical Japanese poet can be a great, good peer
Therefore you can even find good works like that amazing King Lear

日出る国

昼休み、ぼくはフィールド・マイスの曲を聴く
つまむのはお寿司。そう、フィッシュ・アンド・ライスだ
でも矛盾なんてしてるだろうか。何も悪徳には染まってない
ただやりたいようにやるだけ。それがナイスだと思うから

この国ではそんな感じで、文化はおいしいサラダ
偉大なポップスターのように、その魅力は色褪せない
かつて、ぼくはこの雑食性を嫌った。ブラックフェイスのように
日本人としての生活はただの時間の無駄だとさえ思ったっけ

でも今、ぼくは日本語で音楽を楽しむ
美味しい、有名なチーズのような豊かな味わいを持っているから
海と山、美しい木立に満ちたとても偉大な国

シェイクスピアのように世界的に有名な詩人は居ないけれど
ぼくは古代の日本の詩人はよきライバルになりうると思っている
『リア王』級のすぐれた作品だって見つけることができるはず
